Making Better Decisions: The Art of Critical Thinking

INSIGHT ACADEMY

Interactive workshop on critical thinking as a leadership skill helping students ask questions, spot blind spots, and decide with clarity!!

Dr. Julien Leyre is a French-Australian writer, editor, facilitator, and systems entrepreneur. He works with individuals and organisations to gain clarity and alignment in complex, fast-changing contexts.

Julien is an in-house editor with the World Ethic Forum in Switzerland and the co-founder of Shapeshifters Group, an organisation that supports people working in liminal, cross-functional roles. He writes about virtue ethics and decision-making at julienleyre.substack.com. He likes to listen and look for common ground

In entrepreneurship and innovation, we’re often taught to focus on execution: move fast, follow best practice, build the plane while flying it. But many of the hardest challenges are not about doing. They’re about deciding: what to pursue, what to ignore, what actually matters.

This interactive workshop explores critical thinking as a practical, lived skill for navigating uncertainty. Rather than treating it as cynicism or constant doubt, critical thinking is framed as discernment: the ability to ask better questions, notice blind spots, and make responsible decisions even when things are unclear. We place critical as a core personal leadership skill.

Grounded in real experience rather than abstract theory, the session is reflective and participatory. Students will be invited to think, discuss, and test ideas together, not just listen. The workshop is especially relevant for students adapting to a new cultural and professional environment, where familiar reference points may no longer apply.
